Submitting to Re-Parole
! How to prepare an AFFIDAVIT and proof of filing for Re-Parole or for a response to an RFE (USCIS)
This guide will help you properly draft an Affidavit and gather compelling humanitarian evidence so that the USCIS officer clearly understands your situation.
STEP 1. Begin with the essential information. At the beginning of the Affidavit, be sure to include:
— Full name — Where you lived in Ukraine (city/village, region)
— Address of residence in Ukraine
— How you came to the US (program)
— Where you are now in the US
Briefly explain who you are and why you are submitting this application.
Step 2. How did the war personally impact you? Write in real language, not with GPT generalities.
Describe your real-life experience:
— fear, constant danger, shelling
— power, water, and communications outages
— schools, kindergartens, and basements closed
— health problems, severe stress
— loss of jobs, loved ones, and friends
— strategic targets or nearby residential buildings being hit
IMPORTANT: This must be your personal experience, not a copy of general GPT wording.
STEP 3. When and why did you leave Ukraine? Please indicate:
— the exact date of departure
— what was the reason for it
— why at that particular moment
— were you offered help
— or was the departure forced due to health reasons or a dead end
Show the logic of your decision.
STEP 4. If you lived in another country while in the US (residence permit)
If you lived in another country before coming to the US:
— Specify the country
— Length of stay
— Why you couldn’t stay there
Explain why there was no security or opportunity there (job, housing, language, running out of documents, lack of support, threat of war in Europe, etc.).
Step 5. Why did you decide to go to the USA?
— who helped you
— was there any support
— why was this the only safe option
If your sponsor can write a letter of support, that’s a big plus.
STEP 6. Why you CANNOT return to Ukraine now
Explain clearly and calmly:
— risk to life, shelling
— destroyed infrastructure
— lack of housing/jobs/family members
— constant anxiety
— language, religion, persecution
— medical reasons
Refunds are currently not possible – this is a key point for USCIS.
STEP 7. Tell us about your life in the USA
— family
— rent/housing
— work or job search
— education
— medical treatment
— volunteering or church service
— paying taxes
Show that you are useful to the United States and that you are a law-abiding person who follows the rules of your stay.
